Fear curtails healing progress - a case discussion

Case History & Analysis:

This person, has had kidney issues from 6-7 years. Ultrasound report shows multi cysts and blood work reveals disturbed parameters like Uric acid, Blood pressure and Creatinine levels etc.  

It's a daily problem due to impaired functionality & corresponding symptoms, wherein multiple precautions need to be taken, along with therapy and medication. 





During Emotional wellbeing consultation session, it got revealed that they have been living in a fearful state of mind, all the while.

Our patient is youngest among 7 children in their family and 3 members died due to kidney failure, over last 2 decades. She also developed as a dependent mind of smallest child, who received support of elders, for her problems. 


She used to feel scared of kidney dialysis procedure, suffering due to unbearable symptoms or an early death, due to kidney failure etc. 

While this seems natural, but it was preventing cure due to such over-anxious attitude. Her fearful beliefs  were affecting the healing progress, adversely.


Emotional Wellbeing self-therapy exercise:

An exercise to get rid of this deep fear was added to the regime, along with ongoing treatment therapies. 

One suggestion on journaling modality or self-talk is discussed below. It goes something like, Choose from below statements & modify as truly applicable: 

Write or speak to yourself, multiple times daily- 

"I am getting better. I can be cured of kidney problem.

My B.P. remains stable and so has been my Thyroid, Urea and other issues. I do not get pain or swelling like before. (She was advised to quote confirmed changes with actual values as per the pathological reports).

People in my family who struggled due to kidney failure, did not get this treatment, which I have fortunately received, by God's grace. I do not face issues, which they suffered from. So, I believe, I can continue to live, a healthy & good life, without any kidney problem.

I am doing my level best and the universe is supporting me. I see positive results & health progress, regularly, so I am not scared anymore. I feel blessed and am grateful for everything."


With this practice of internal dialogue change, (modified as applicable in reality), the case has been quite stable for last around 1+ year.

It has been noticed in multiple communication with our patient, that she no longer seems overly worried, stressed, anxious or tense as before. The person is emotionally calmer and cheerful, as observed.

Emotional wellbeing is not so complicated, it can be simple in many cases and possibly used at home for self-treatment.
